WJAL is an English-language independent television station under the Entravision umbrella. Entravision Communications Corporation is a diversified Spanish-language media company utilizing a combination of television and radio to reach approximately 70% of Hispanic consumers across the United States, as well as the border markets of Mexico.
WJAL General History
We first began to broadcast as WJAL on August 1st 1984, as the third television station in Hagerstown, the fourth independent station in the Washington DMA, after WTTG, WDCA, and WCQR, and the first outside Washington. For a short time in the mid 1990s, we were a WB affiliate. After that we went back to independent programming. As we continue today.
